Based on the needs of the student, I will create a program that begins with solidifying the basics of that concept and then progresses towards more challenging work that encourages the student to think in different ways to solve the problems. Our lessons will always begin with homework help if applicable and then we will wrap up with reinforcement activities. Those can range anywhere from: educational videos, games, worksheets and readings. All reinforcement materials/supplies that are planned will be provided by me, the students do not have to worry about anything. My goal is to make learning fun and more enjoyable because learning IS fun and enjoyable. There is so much to learn in the world and I want to inspire each of my students to reach for the stars and learn as much as they can!

I am providing a 1:1 online reading support opportunity for your student. I will be using a
great resource: "Epic!" (getepic.com) provides beautiful and easy to use online books that I can screen share with your student. We will work together to find books of interest to make this a completely personal and fun experience for your
student. I will provide immediate positive feedback to enhance motivation and decrease frustration.  I work on decoding sounds, fluency, and reading comprehension.  I build a relationship by spending a few minutes each session talking about anything that interests your child.  From these conversations and from what I see while reading, I usually have a good idea of what types of books are a good fit.  I generally have 3 or 4 books per session to read with your child.

With 31 years experience in the field of special education, I find the whole child approach is most successful. Especially during this time of the pandemic, our students need not only academic instruction but focus on other areas, such as sensory, movement, and social-emotional. By embedding strategies, techniques, and modifications of these other areas into our sessions, the student will show progress with his/her IEP goals...and hopefully in all areas across the board.

At the conclusion of the assessments, I will analyze the data, and use it to inform my  instruction. Instruction will begin at the identified points of deficit, in order to fill in any learning gaps. Once all of the learning gaps have been filled, then we will proceed to instruction on grade level content. If my initial assessments do not indicate any learning deficits, then we will proceed with grade level work and strengthening skills at that level.

Focusing on math related to money and functional social skills for their son. We will work in the home to work on understanding money value and throughout the community to practice budgeting, ordering food, following a grocery list, and finding the most cost efficient option. I would like to extend understanding, if time allows during our summer session, to ordering food online as well to generalize and reinforce mastery of the skill.

In addition to compensating my time and services, my payment will cover the cost of gas to transport the student to community stores and fast food restaurants to practice functional application of skills.
